Transformation in Half a Generation

About Us

Vision Liberia 2027 is a non-denominational organization that is working with the Christian church, community and partners worldwide to envision and enable a Christ-centered Liberia in half a generation.   The way we go about our work is under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and as servants according the call Jesus made in Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  We believe that as a para-church organization, we can most effectively establish a foundational vision and plan that can guide the church in a profound reconstruction and transformation of Liberia.

OUR VISION:

In a half a generation by the year 2027 we envisage:
  • A transformed church and society in Liberia through the work of Christians empowered by the Holy Spirit and equipped for service in their church, community, and government.

 OUR MISSION:

  • Establish a common understanding of the needs of the entire country by creating a national consciousness and common vision for the holistic growth and development of Liberia
  • Train, equip and empower Christian servant-leaders as change agents to serve in every strata of the Church and society
  • Establish an educational fund for pastor’s and lay leader’s children who lack financial resources to insure the “first flock” is cared for.

 OUR VALUES:

  • Everything we do and teach in the ministry must be aligned with and reflect God’s word
  • The Church is called to be an instrument of healing for this broken and hurting world
  • What we do must flow from our identity in Christ

Vision Liberia 2027 Founders

Vision Liberia 2027 has been founded by Reverend Jerry Kulah and his wife Ruth.   Reverend Kulah is an ordained minister of the Methodist Church (UMC) and has served in many roles including as a local church pastor in several churches and as the Monrovia District Supervisor over 33 churches.   He is currently being sponsored by the UMC and is a candidate for his pHd in theology.  The vision for Vision Liberia 2027 has grown out of his personal experience with the effectiveness of leadership development in creating an environment of change and his magnetic enthusiasm for believing God for a better Liberian in the future.
Reverend Kulah has been instrumental in organizing the country’s non-denominational National Day of Prayer and is widely regarded as one of the most influential Christian leaders in the country having relationships with Christian and government leaders at the highest levels.   Jerry was also instrumental in bringing the medical mission Mercy Ships to Liberia which has blessed hundreds in need of medical services that would otherwise be out of reach.   Jerry and his wife Ruth are happily married and their union is blessed with four children and many extended family members. This couple shares a deep passion for their country and the BODY OF CHRIST as a whole.

Vision Liberia 2027 is a ministry founded by a Christian non-profit organization in Liberia called the Christian Leadership and Educational Development Association (CLEDA – Liberia).  This organization is a formal entity registered with the Liberian government to undertake such activities.  The documents of incorporation are included for inspection.  CLEDA – Liberia’s only ministry endeavor is Vision Liberia 2027 at the current time.

Vision Liberia 2027 - USA

Vision Liberia 2027 in the USA is sponsored by Rev. Dick Meyer and John Hirsekorn who attend the Redwood Covenant Church in Santa Rosa California.  Dick and John became acquainted with Rev. Kulah through ministry partners on the Mercy Ships which until recently had been birthed in Liberia doing mercy medical ministry in the country.  Dick and John visited Liberia in May of 2008 to meet the CLEDA-Liberia Board of Directors and participate in Vision Liberia 2027 planning activities.  While in Liberia and in keeping with the overall goals of the project, they also provided education in youth ministry, small group ministries, church finances and structure, and biblical integrity to lay leaders and pastors and spoke in local church services on the weekends.

Dick and John head the activities for fundraising and communication for Vision Liberia 2027 from their homes in Santa Rosa, CA.   They are currently pursuing non-profit status for Vision Liberia 2027 USA, but in the meantime are accepting donations through a partner organization, Plowpoint Ministries who are also engaged in ministry in Liberia.
