Transformation in Half a Generation

Pastor's Children's Education Fund

One of the impediments to significant participation of the Church in all aspects of the reconstruction of post-conflict Liberia is the practical education of children.  Pastors especially suffer from this as they, more than most, understand the need for education as a way of breaking the bondage of the past and the destructive and dark spiritual legacy of the bush culture.  Currently, there are no public schools provided by the government and so each family must try to send their children to the few private schools available at a cost of approximately $250 US per year.  With the average pastor’s salary well below 100/month, you can see that this presents a hardship that drives many of them to devote more and more of their time to secular activities to try to pay for this education.  This de-focusing of those God has given a heart for and a calling to ministry is discouraging.
